Proposed Captive Deer Breeder and Big Game Hunting Preserve Permit Regulation Changes Comments

The Missouri Conservation Commission has approved proposed amendments to the Wildlife Code of Missouri that would indefinitely suspend issuing permits for new big-game hunting facilities and new wildlife breeding facilities in Missouri that hold white-tailed deer or mule deer.

The proposed changes would not apply to wildlife breeders and game ranches with existing permits, or to wildlife-breeders or game ranches who wish to hold approved wildlife species other than white-tailed deer or mule deer.

MDC permit records show there are 27 permitted big-game hunting preserves in Missouri with white-tailed deer, and 277 permitted wildlife breeders with white-tailed deer.

The Department is following established procedures to effect these changes through the Secretary of State's office. As part of that process, the Department is collecting public comments on the proposed changes. Share your comments here.
