Waterfowl Hunting Opportunity: Early Part of Season

Published on: Sep. 14, 2009

Some of the pools will be shallow early in the season, which may prevent boat access and blind availability; however, each zoned position will have suitable hunting opportunity. Unit B will have two to four positions available, depending on the day of rotation (19, H-Pool, 48 north and 48 south). Position 19 will be available every day, while the other three will be available every other day.

Water will not be diverted from Pool 1 to flood pools 2 and 3 unless it can be recaptured from a rain or Castor River flood event due to the scheduled replacement of the main water control structure at the Cato Levee. Water will be captured in these pools opportunistically, and hunting will be allowed as water levels rise.
