Wetland Field Day: Thank you

A big thank you goes out to everyone that participated in last week’s Wetland Field Day at Duck Creek; our hosting partners from Ducks Unlimited, USFWS, Wildlife Society, and FFA, along with the folks that took part in the festivities.

After a foggy start to the morning, we ended up having 175 guests help celebrate the 75th Anniversary of MDC and DU through a range of activities. The kids were able to take a crack at carving duck decoys and try to catch frogs. For those of us with a little less energy, Sherman Smith Jr. put on a great water dog demonstration along the north side of Unit A. Additionally, we had a good time on the hayrides through the woods and Unit A. This gave us an opportunity to show what has been done with the renovation and discuss our wetland management strategies.

All in all we had a great time and appreciate the long history of support for MDC and DU, especially at Duck Creek. Thanks again for coming out.
