Work in Progress: First of December 2010
Despite the wet conditions over the last few weeks the contractors are still making progress at Cato Levee. Today they are pouring the last bit of concrete for the water control structure. The temperature is now making things difficult and has required them to take extra measures. They've got a heater in the base of the structure to warm the steel and walls and are covering the forms with tarps to keep it insulated during the curing process. Once the concrete cures and test samples pass the pressure test the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will give the contractors the go-ahead to start backfilling the levee. Once this is done the final work will include removing the coffer dams on either side.
That is all for now. Stay warm this weekend.
