Two New Division Chiefs
One of the things I mentioned in an earlier blog was how many of our agency’s staff will be retiring in the next few years, creating quite a turnover. Well, when the Missouri Conservation Commission met last Friday, two new division chiefs were named to fill such vacancies. DeeCee Darrow became chief of the Wildlife Division, and Ron Dent is now chief of the Resource Science Division.
Both divisions play important roles in how we regulate and manage wildlife and the habitats they need. Both DeeCee (she started with MDC in 1988) and Ron (he started in 1976) have backgrounds in a variety of divisions within the Conservation Department. As we head into a future dealing with global warming, invasive species and fewer places for wildlife to live, they’ll be in critical roles for helping Missourians find ways to keep the quality of our lives and the richness of our natural world in healthy balance. The good thing is, they’re both very bright, determined and experienced–-and passionate about conservation.
