Time to Order Tree and Shrub Seedlings
What do the World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals and tree planting have in common? To be successful, they both depend on good wood! One would think that with autumn here and Old Man winter just around the corner tree planting and baseball would be the last thing on a wildlife manager’s mind. But in order to have a successful planting next spring, we need to be thinking about it now. With the World Series Championship over, it’s time to order trees. The many home runs hit in this World Series couldn’t have been done without wooden bats. In order to have bats you must have trees. The Missouri Department of Conservation’s George O. White Tree nursery is gearing up for another season of tree seedling sales. Each year, around the middle of November, the annual mailing of the tree-seedling order forms are mailed out to thousands of Missouri residents to plant for the future. The tree seedlings are shipped out in early spring for optimum success. One thing to keep in mind: the nursery sells out fast on many popular species. So put your order in early. Visit our Seedling Orders page for more information and to place your order online.
