This newsletter is aimed at cooperators and sports-people in Missouri to provide information on restoring quail. This is a joint effort of the Missouri Department of Conservation, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and University of Missouri Extension.
Bill, you should have one arriving by mail any day. If you would like to be on the newsletter mailing list, there is contact info on the front page of the newsletter detailing how to go about doing that. Thanks for the request
Why is the MDC only relying on private landowners to restore habitat? I can name many MDC lands on the west half of Missouri that have abysmally poor mangement practices. No edge feathering is the biggest hypocrisy I see nearly everywhere! Lack of fire is also widespread. Way too much sitting on a tractor brush hogging (always right next to stands of woody growth), and way too little walking around with a chainsaw and a match.
White River Trace is a shining exemption to the above paragraph. If all MDC lands were managed like this, we would have many quail on public ground. Nice job to those employed there!
