MDC celebrates National Hunting and Fishing Day with A Day the Confluence event Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Columbia Bottom Conservation Area in Spanish Lake with free activities such as guided river-boat rides.
MDC is seeking public input about future management of Columbia Bottom Conservation Area in St. Louis County. Those interested in viewing and commenting on the area's 10-year management plan are invited to share their ideas at mdc.mo.gov/areaplans by Sept. 30.
This old barn once stood at the present location of the Columbia Bottom Visitor Center before its deconstruction. Some of the original wood from the barn was used in building the current visitor center.
A permanent stone privy at Columbia Bottom Conservation Area was toppled from its base by flood waters that breached its Missouri River levee June 2. MDC officials estimate it may take months to repair all the damage to the area.
