Poster

"Without trees... hammocks would just be blankets on the ground." That statement hits you in the gut, doesn't it? This is the first poster in a series for the Trees Work campaign around the concept Without Trees... The posters are hand crafted in St. Louis using Missouri grown wood and vintage typeface. We thought it a good idea show you how Trees Work, even to make a poster! You're also going to want to check out the quick video on the making of the posters. There are 42,000 jobs related to the forest product industry in Missouri. Take a look at just one such kind of job and watch how Missouri wood was used in the making these posters.

“Without trees... hide and seek would just be seek.” Second Trees Work poster possibly the “greenest” ever produced.

What do you get when you mix a fallen cherry tree, a bunch of old t-shirts, and some industrious Missourians? A Trees Work poster! This second poster in the Without Trees... series is printed on locally made paper made from recycled t-shirts, using Missouri native cherry woodblocks from trees that uprooted during the storms of 2011, and ink that was rescued from an old printing factory. Oh! It’s designed and printed by Missourians too! Without trees... hide and seek would just be seek. You’ve got to love it.

Without Trees... 2 x 4s would be 0 x 0s. This is our third poster in the ‘Without Trees...’ series. What do Missouri trees make? Everything from the frame of your house, to your floor, furniture and fuel to heat it, too! Not only do Missouri’s forests supply us with a huge variety of products (like the wood used to carve the woodblock for this poster!) they also create a lot of jobs in Missouri--42,000 jobs to be precise.

Without trees, we’d be up a creek without a paddle. This is the fourth poster in the Trees Work poster series. And, this one is extra special because the slogan came from Leslie Stephens from Troy, MO who competed with 1325 other slogans to win the Trees Work contest to finish the phrase “Without trees . . .”! We can think of four ways to think about how Trees Work with this slogan. How many can you come up with? Hint: think being in trouble, clean streams, recreation and wood products!
