VIENNA, Mo. — Got cabin fever? The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites you to discover nature and spend a day with wildlife from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Knights of Columbus center in Vienna. All parts of the event are free and open to the public.
Come out and learn more about MDC Hunter Education courses, watch a mini-sawmill in action, meet Smokey Bear, or learn more about Missouri’s freshwater mussels through hands-on family friendly activities like Mussel Match-up, Zap the Zebras or Mussel Morsels. Additionally, certified deer antler scorers will be present to measure trophy whitetails and see how it compares to the “Missouri Monarch,” the current state record whitetail trophy.
Members from partner organizations including National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Quail Forever will be hosting informational booths and available to answer questions, plus there will be a rifle raffle from Mid-Missouri Outdoor Dream.
“This event is a great opportunity to learn more about resource management for private landowners” MDC Resource Forester Aaron Holsapple said. “Department staff will be available to answer questions about ponds and lakes, trees and forests, and just about any upland game wildlife you can think of.”
Grab the family and head out to learn more about Missouri’s forest, fish and wildlife at MDC’s Day with Wildlife.
The Knights of Columbus center is located on U.S. Highway 63 and Sixth Street in Vienna.
