Hours

Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, all state holidays, and during special events the 3rd Saturday in June and 4th Saturday in September. These hours are subject to change, please call for updated hours. Phone number is in the Address Information box to the right.

April 15 through September 13

  • Monday — 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday — 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday — 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

September 14 through April 14

  • Monday and Thursday — 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Individual use

  • Ranges available on a first-come, first-served basis, Thursday through Monday.
  • Check fees under Facilities, fees and features below.
  • Expect waiting lines for range access on most weekends throughout the year. The heavy use times are just before deer, turkey, and dove seasons.

Group use

Groups are able to reserve the range and outdoor education center facilities for organized activities. These facilities are available for groups of 10 or more people for $20 per hour (must apply for a special-use permit through Dalton Range office to gain access). Usage fees may be waived for qualifying youth groups and educational programs as applicable.

Range features

  • 100-yard, baffled, rifle/pistol range with 20 covered booths that meets Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
  • Trap-only shotgun field, a skeet-only shotgun field, two trap and skeet overlay fields, and a shotgun patterning range for public use.
  • 3-D and static archery ranges, a pellet gun range, two indoor classrooms, and a pavilion for outdoor meetings and programs

Rifle/pistol range

  • $3 per hour per booth for adults. Children 6 – 15 shoot for free. First hour paid in advance, remainder at checkout.
  • 20-point, covered outdoor firing line with target sockets at 7, 15, 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards
  • Bench rest and seat provided for shooters, with seating available for spectators
  • Paper bull’s-eye targets and target stands
  • Hearing and eye protection required and available

Trap and skeet ranges

  • $3 per person per round of 25 clay birds for adults. Children 6 – 15 shoot for free. First round paid in advance, remainder at checkout.
  • One trap field, one skeet field, two trap/skeet overlay fields
  • Hearing and eye protection required and available

Shotgun patterning range

  • $3 per hour for adults. Children 6 – 15 shoot for free. First hour paid in advance, remainder at checkout.
  • Hearing and eye protection required and available

Static and 3-D archery ranges

  • $3 per hour for adults. Children 6 – 15 shoot for free. First hour paid in advance, remainder at checkout.
  • 3-D targets of deer, turkey, bear, coyote, elk, groundhog, and raccoon

Pellet gun range

  • $3 per hour for adults. Children 6 – 15 shoot for free. First hour paid in advance, remainder at checkout.
  • Hearing and eye protection required and available

Outdoor Education Center

  • Two indoor classrooms and an outdoor pavilion
  • Both facilities must be scheduled at least two weeks before event date

100-seat indoor classroom

  • Free for hunter-education programs
  • Available for groups of 10 or more for meetings or classes. Must schedule through Dalton Range Office not less than two weeks in advance

Outdoor pavilion

  • Free for meetings or classes but must be scheduled with Dalton Range Office not less than two weeks in advance
