Located in the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center in Wildcat Park just south of I-44, the Joplin Conservation Office is your local connection to Missouri’s fish, forests and wildlife. Stop by for a fishing/hunting license, and stay for a nature program, go for a hike, enjoy a picnic or access Shoal Creek.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed weekends and state holidays.

From I-44 in Joplin take Hwy 86 south (exit 4) 0.4 miles to Riviera Drive and turn west into the area.

Free Programs and Other Fun Stuff

Enjoy a variety of free public programs throughout the year. Check out our newsletter, Conservation Compass, listed below. Call or stop by our office to find out about naturalist-conducted programs and hikes. Missouri educators may arrange field trips or check out educational trunks. Check out a Discover Nature Backpack filled with binoculars, field guides and other fun items to enhance your hike on a trail.

Audubon Missouri operates the nature center and gift shop where many MDC books are sold.

Partners in Accessible Green Building and Conservation

Built in partnership with the Conservation Department, Audubon Missouri and the City Of Joplin, the nature center is rated as a “U.S. Green Building Council LEED Silver” building. All features and facilities are accessible to people with disabilities.
